enquire Briefing Notes
enquire has issued a series of Briefing Notes, drawing attention to how gallery
education addresses current education, culture and social agendas, drawing on the enquire
research findings and case studies. The Briefing Notes cover participation, personalisation
and self-directed learning and diversity.
Aimed at policy makers, they are also a valuable tool for advocacy. All Briefing Notes can be downloaded here
or printed copies ordered from engage.

Commissioned by ACE and published by enquire, Emily Pringle outlines significant theory, policy and creative
practice that have informed gallery education, explores the nature of 'Contemporary Gallery Education’, reviews
relevant models of learning and a range of learning frameworks before suggesting how the proposed CGE framework
might be applied to map gallery learning situations.
Researching non-formal Learning (Word doc.)
This report of a lecture given by Professor Michael Eraut to participants in the enquire
project, Newcastle University, November 2005 by Judith Furner, University of Sussex, summarises
his research into non-formal learning in the work place with a bibliography. The synergies between
Eraut’s conclusions and non-formal learning through the enquire clusters are explored in The
enquire Programme: Communities of Critical enquirers (Word doc)
